Protect Your Family from Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

Fuel burning appliances such as furnaces, kerosene heaters, fireplaces and wood burning stoves require careful use and proper maintenance throughout the winter. If not properly maintained, these appliances can produce carbon monoxide (CO), a deadly poison that claims the lives of nearly 300 people in their homes each year, according the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

CO is known as the "silent killer" because you cannot see, smell or taste it. To protect your family from CO poisoning, install CO alarms throughout your home, especially in sleeping areas. Also, be sure your heating appliances are regularly inspected by a professional.
