Representative Jim Moran (D-8th-VA) Tours The Great Safety Adventure®

Rep Jim Moran (D-8th-VA) toured the Home Safety Council’s safety education traveling exhibit, The Great Safety Adventure® (GSA). The exhibit, which aims to increase awareness of home safety and prevent unintentional injuries among young children, was visiting James K. Polk Elementary in Alexandria, VA, on June 9, to highlight that June is Home Safety Month.

”The Great Safety Adventure allows kids to learn injury prevention techniques in a hands-on and controlled environment,” said Moran. “It acts as a mobile home safety awareness ambassador, bringing life-saving information to school children in Northern Virginia and across the country.”

Entering its eighth year on the road, the exhibit has become one of the Home Safety Council’s flagship programs, arming children and families with critical home safety knowledge. The award-winning “field trip on wheels” has directly reached nearly 950,000 children and caregivers since it launched in 1999.

“Too many children are unintentionally injured each year because they don’t know basic safety rules or what to do in an emergency. I applaud the Home Safety Council for taking their message directly to kids, using an innovative, engaging, and entertaining medium to get their point across.” Moran added.
