HSC RECEIVES FEDERAL EARMARK

The Home Safety Council is pleased to announce The Great Safety Adventure® (GSA), our award-winning injury prevention program and traveling exhibit that teaches home safety messages and practices to children, teachers and caregivers, received a $50,000 earmark from the Labor-HHS-Education Appropriations bill under the CDC's Public Health Improvement account.

Language in the conference report for the FY 2005 Omnibus Appropriations bill read: "Home Safety Council, Washington, DC, for a national injury prevention education program targeting youth.”

“This funding validates the GSA as a valuable community program,” said Home Safety Council’s chief operating officer Patricia Adkins. “Home Safety Council’s first federal earmark is a breakthrough for the organization and will allow the GSA to educate an increased number of children, families and caregivers on how to be safer in and around their homes.”
