Sen. Specter and Rep. Andrews Receive First Congressional Leadership Awards at the Salute to Home Safety Awards Dinner

On June 30, 2005, the Home Safety Council gathered Congressional and business leaders at the Washington Hilton to celebrate home safety champions in the public and private sectors. Several awards were presented throughout the evening, including the first ever HSC Congressional Leadership Award members of Congress for their commitment to protecting Americans from unintentional home injury.

The Congressional Leadership Award recognized national leaders who work tirelessly and effectively on behalf of the American public. This year, Senator Arlen Specter (R) of Pennsylvania and Representative Robert E. Andrews (D-1st) of New Jersey were honored for being at the forefront of safety issues and championing programs that address education, health and safety, and national preparedness.
