HOME SAFETY COUNCIL® APPOINTS NEW DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT Council Selects Fundraising Expert with Commitment to Health and Safety Washington D.C. - The Home Safety Council has selected Lynette Sappe-Watkins as the Council’s new Director of Development. Formerly a Senior Development Officer with the American Red Cross National Headquarters, Sappe-Watkins brings significant fundraising expertise coupled with a strong commitment to health and safety to the Home Safety Council executive team. As Director of Development, Sappe-Watkins will serve as a senior member of Home Safety Council management and is responsible for leading all fundraising efforts, developing strategic partnerships and sponsorship opportunities. In this role she will develop, manage and implement all fundraising programs and identify and cultivate sponsorship opportunities to advance the Home Safety Council’s mission of creating safer homes. Sappe-Watkins also represents the Home Safety Council as its chief development officer and serves as the chief liaison to the development committee of the Board of Directors. “Lynette’s development experience and accomplishments together with her commitment to public health and safety make her a significant addition to the Home Safety Council team,” said Meri-K Appy, president of the Home Safety Council. “Her proven fundraising abilities and leadership qualities will help us advance the Home Safety Council’s agenda to raise awareness for the importance of home safety.” Prior to joining the Home Safety Council, Sappe-Watkins served as the Senior Development Officer for Leadership Giving with the American Red Cross National Headquarters, where she was responsible for managing cultivation strategies and donor relations for high level donors. In this position, she successfully raised more than $20 million in gifts to the National Disaster Relief Fund, America’s Readiness Campaign, American Red Cross 125th Anniversary and the International Response Fund.
