HOME SAFETY COUNCIL HOSTS SALUTE TO HOME SAFETY AWARDS DINNER The Home Safety Council held its inaugural Salute to Home Safety Awards Dinner on June 30, 2005 at the Washington Hilton and Towers. This event recognized corporations, Congressional leaders and individuals who have made outstanding contributions in the area of home safety on both local and national levels. This year’s honorees include individuals and leading manufacturers from a variety of industries and fields who have paved the way for greater home safety through implementation of proactive education programs and pioneering product development. Home maintenance experts Stephanie Glakas-Tenet and Julie Sussman, co-authors of the popular 2002 book, Dare to Repair, presented the keynote address, and more than 400 HSC partners, supporters and honorees were in attendance. “We are pleased to recognize industry leaders for their invaluable efforts to make American homes safer,” said Home Safety Council president Meri-K Appy. “These honorees have demonstrated a strong commitment to helping keep families safe in and around their homes through efforts including the development of innovative safety products as well as the implementation of employee and consumer safety awareness programs.” 2005 Salute to Home Safety Award Winners include: Founder’s Award: HSC’s founder, Lowe’s Companies, received this unique award to honor their ongoing commitment to increasing the safety of American homes and families.
