Users can go room-by-room to identify the most common injury risks as well as the steps they can take to prevent them in their own homes. August 18-19, 2008 The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Annual Conference on Assessment Initiative will focus on the collection of community health information. It will be held in Atlanta, GA. September 9-12, 2008 The National Association of County & City Health Officials and the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials will hold their annual joint conference in Sacramento, CA. September 14-23, 2008 Voting Governmental Members of the International Code Council (ICC) will have the opportunity to vote on a requirement to install fire sprinkler systems in new homes during the ICC’s Final Action Hearing, which will take place in Minneapolis September 14-23, 2008. Download the Report in PDF HELP SENIORS LIVE BETTER, LONGER CDC Effort Underway to Prevent Fall-Related Brain Injury The Home Safety Council is proud to support a national injury-prevention initiative being undertaken by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC). The program aims to educate children and other caregivers of adults age 75 and over about ways to prevent, recognize and respond to fall-related traumatic brain injury. For consumers: Free Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition (HFSC) Resources HFSC has produced a free new video on DVD to educate local officials about home fire sprinklers. Sprinkler Smarts introduces children in grades K-5 to home fire sprinklers. HFSC’s Public Education Kit presentation tools on CD and DVD. The Common Voices Coalition, sponsored by the National Fire Sprinkler Association, is a group of advocates who have been personally affected by fire tragedy.
