Support The Great Safety Adventure
Photo courtesy of New York State Association of Fire Chiefs We are pursuing federal funding for The Great Safety Adventureâ, one of the Home Safety Council’s marquee programs to raise awareness of injury prevention in the home. The Great Safety Adventureâ (GSA) is a school-based injury prevention program and traveling exhibit that teaches home safety messages and practices to children, teachers, and caregivers, and encourages behavioral changes for safer families and homes. It focuses on five risk areas: fires/burns, poisonings, falls, and choking, drowning. Trained “Safety Ranger” tour guides speak both Spanish and English. You may have even seen The Great Safety Adventure in your community. Since 1999, this proven program has reached over 750,000 children nationwide. We would like to ask you, as an Expert Network member, to write your U.S. Senators and Representative in support of this educational and life-saving program. As a constituent who knows the value of home safety education, your letters would make a significant impression on the legislators who have the power to fund this program. A model letter makes it easy for you to personalize, print out on your letterhead, sign and mail to the address below. Due to increased security restrictions, regular mail to Capitol Hill can take up to a month to receive. We will make sure the letters are hand delivered to your Members of Congress.
