Jim Dalton, Director of Public Fire Protection

Jim Dalton is Director of Public Fire Protection for the National Fire Sprinkler Assoc. (NFSA). He spent his 25-year fire service career in Montgomery County, MD where he became Assistant Chief and served as Chief of the Division of Fire Prevention his last 8 years. Jim works with local fire, building and public policy officials who are trying to incorporate the fire sprinkler concept into their local fire defense effort. Active in public fire safety education since the 1970s, Jim serves on the NFPA Education Section Executive Board. Over the past two Congresses, Jim has served as the coordinator of industry and fire service efforts to pass the Fire Sprinkler Incentive Act.
